Our Mission and Goals

The mission of St. Andrew Preschool is to provide a developmentally appropriate program that addresses the cognitive, physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of each child in a safe and nurturing environment. We believe that students deserve an early learning experience that is individualized and presented in a healthy environment that welcomes exploration, imagination and spiritual growth. Activities are planned and directed by caring adults who are chosen for their teaching skills and their commitment to Christian education.

Faith-Based Goals: Our goal is to provide faith-based learning opportunities through daily prayer, song and Christ-like examples. Modeled experiences will reinforce that Christ is the core of all connections.

Academic Goals: Each student is encouraged to meet age appropriate goals covering a variety of developmental milestones from the following categories:

• Language & Literacy
• Personal Health & Safety
• Physical Development
• Math & Science
• Music & the Arts
• Social/Emotional/Personal Development

History

The conception of the preschool began with a vision of the St. Andrew church staff and members. The vision established for the preschool was for the program to be a ministry, not only to church members but also for the community; to work with the church and establish the church name within the community; and to provide a first time church experience for some children. We opened our doors in September of 1991 with an enrollment of 73 children in seven classes and a staff of seven.

Our Staff

Our staff is chosen because they love working with young children and have a passion for weekday ministry. Many staff members have degrees in Child Development, Early Childhood, and Elementary Education. Additionally, all teachers receive at least 24 hours of training each year through workshops, seminars, and/or college classes designed for early childhood educators. Pediatric First Aid and CPR training are required of all staff.

St. Andrew Preschool provides equal opportunities to all and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, marital status, ancestry status or national origin in its educational programs or activities, including employment and admissions.

At the same time, St. Andrew Preschool cherishes its right and duty to seek and retain personnel who will make a positive contribution to its religious character, goals, and mission in order to enhance the St. Andrew United Methodist Church and St. Andrew Preschool.

All individuals shall be recruited, hired, advanced, compensated, and retained on the basis of their qualifications and performance.

In order to be considered for employment, you must submit an application.

  • Maintaining best practices that are reflected in learning environments, daily class activities, and teacher knowledge
  • Providing opportunities for teachers to support children’s interest, for children to participate in conversations, and for families to contribute to curriculum enrichment
  • Impacting children’s learning through meaningful and relevant experiences

Our Stories

InterGenerational

St. Andrew Preschool students learn to love Christ, love others, love learning, and take those lessons far beyond the walls of the school.

We are loved

When Mom asks, "Who kept the men in the fiery furnace safe?" Two-year-old Lila answers, "Jesus!"

Why? Children at St. Andrew Preschool learn early and often how much they are loved by Jesus.
